District 300 Tax Hiker Ad Interesting on So Many Levels

The ad published by the tax hike committee is interesting on so many levels.

First, of course, it only quotes the two newspaper who endorsed the referendum. But it's pretty normal for any campaign to accentuate the positive.

And, is the young man a Disrict 300 student. Is it one of the student leaders?

Second, I see the benefits of the bond issue take a classic pork approach:
Helping Every School
I love the logo of Advance 300. It comes complete with an arrow pointing where people's taxs will go, if the referendums pass.

And, then the best part:
The ad lists the villages and park disrict where public officials may face ethics violation charges because their board endorsed the referendums.

And, lower down, where you really have to look--after the booster clubs and Parent Teacher Organizations/Councils, come the
Local Businesses
It's so handy for supporters and opponents to know what community businesses want to raise their taxes.

Just in case you can't read them, they are
The Hilda Jones Team: Baird & Warner
Fifth Third Bank
Village Music
Kane County Cleaners
Finders Keepers
Artful Objects
Big Horn Subs
Comic Cabin and Games
Primrose Lane
Pretzel Palace
The Frame Shop of East Dundee
Artistic Bits Arts Center of East Dundee
River Street Running
Baker's Square
Thornton's
Steet Legal Audio
Four Seasons Cleaners
Back to Bed
Valley Sign Works

Missing, however, is the lengthy list of developers and District 300 vendors who cared enough to give thousands and fives of thousands of dollars to finance this most expensive campaign.

Comments:
Thanks for making the list legible. I will now not set foot in those shops to spend money. When people post yes signs at their business they risk losing my business. I actually go into business and say because of your yes sign I will not spend my money here. I will frequent a place that has a no sign. But frankly I think businesses should not put out yes or no signs.

I stopped seeing my doctor because she wrote a pro Kerry LTE. I just could not respect her anymore.

I find it interesting that now that the Woodstock city council allegedly violated the ethics code, the other towns in the area are jumping on the bandwagon. I can only assume that they feel that if Woodstock got away with it, they can too. Tonight's city council meeting, where Sager gets to appoint one of the members of the commission that's supposed to "investigate" this issue should be interesting.
