Tristano Dances with Feds

Associated Press reporter Mike Robinson reports today that former chief of staff Mike Tristano is cooperating with the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Tristano served as Daniel’s head man during most of the 1990’s, stepping down to be a vice president of the University of Illinois-Chicago campus for the 1995-96 period, which Mike Stoke returned from serving as Congressman Tom Ewing’s chief of staff.

Tristano was quite involved in McHenry County campaigns, including, apparently, sending out a hit piece against me financed by the House Republican Campaign Committee during the 2000 primary election.

That piece of mail was one of the items that resulted in former State Rep. and mail house owner Roger Stanley’s ending up in federal prison.

His ex-boss, retiring State Rep. Lee Daniels, has not been accused of doing anything illegal by the Feds, but the campaign funds he controls have spent lots of money on lawyers' fees.
